This year Kiwanis Club of Lake City again hosted its annual Kids Day at the Columbia County Fair. For the last several years we have been seeing increasing numbers of local children who might not otherwise be able to experience the fair. In 2008, we had nearly 300 children come out for the festivities. When we were approached with the prospect of nearly 150 children not being able to attend, Kiwanis Club of Lake City stepped up to the plate and extended the Kiwanis Club Kids Day to cover 450 special needs children. As always, fun was had by all who attended. Kiwanis hosts and chapparones the free event to allow kids to come to the fair and experience all the attractions. Working in cooperation with Columbia County Resources, this annual event has become a tradition we hope to continue indefinitely. You can read about last year's event here.
