Kiwanis Club of Lake City will be hosting a dedication and ribbon cutting at the Sam Vann Park located in the Southside Recreation Complex on Tuesday November 24, 2009 at noon.

Sam Vann Park is named in memory of one of our own. Sam Vann had long been a pillar in the community and a tireless Kiwanian. He had served on the Board of Directors and was a Past President. Early in 2008, in memorium, Kiwanis Club of Lake City chose to name this newest addition to the community after one of our own, thus Sam Vann Park was born.
Sam Vann Park was made possible through the hard work and dedication of Kiwanians and other volunteers. Originally, the concept was imagined by Kiwanis Club of Lake City in early 2007. The members quickly went to work seeking out business and individual doners that were paramount to the success of this projects and a key funding source was made available through a joint effort with the Columbia County Commissioners in late 2007.
The park concept was designed to provide many years of fun for all ages of children and through the hard work and dedication became a reality in 2008. The finishing touches were put on the park, along with a few enhancements not in the original design earlier this year. This park has already become a huge hit with the children of this community.
The park is located on SW Ballpark Glen in the Southside Recreation Complex behind Summers Elementary School. The public is invited to come out and celebrate with us as we dedicate this park.
