In 2003, Kiwanis Club of Lake City embarked on an ambitious mission to build a park for small children in the community. After some discussion with local businesses and community leaders, a site was selected on the west side of town next door to First Federal.
The first obstacle was to obtain the necessary funds and through club events and the generosity of many local follks, construction was started early in 2003 and was completed in just a few months.
The club took an active role in the design and even provided labor to get the project completed. This labor of love for the children of the community would not have been possible without everyone working together. In the end, Kiwanis Park was born and the children of the community make good use of the facility on a regular basis.
